The Top 5 Weirdest Celebrity Endorsements Proactiv

It's a brilliant bit of marketing strategy that has rocketed Proactiv to the top of the heap when it comes to acne treatment options.

After all, what product comes to mind when somebody asks about acne products? Chances are Proactiv is near or at the top of the list of products that get mentioned.

Unfortunately, not every celebrity spokesperson is an absolute winner. There are some choices that are questionable and others that make you scratch your head in amazement.

Here are the top five weirdest celebrities who endorse Proactiv, and the reasons why they make such a strange choice.

Avril Lavigne – nothing says punk rock like an acne treatment with the main active ingredient benzoyl peroxide. Avril Lavigne should be endorsing things like neckties that can be worn by girls.

But you can't blame her for loving money and if Proactiv is offering good money, then even a hard-core skater chick who rages against the establishment can find it in her heart to accept an endorsement cheque.

Jenna Fischer – she seems like a perfectly lovely person who has starred in a few funny movies. But when your target demographic is teenagers and kids in high school, Jenna Fischer seems like an odd choice.

She's best known for her work in “The Office”, but how many teenagers do you know who actually watch that show?

Chances are kids and teens might recognize Jenna Fischer's face but she doesn't have that wow factor that would get a young person excited about Proactiv.

Katy Perry – it's rather brave for Katy Perry to come out and tell all of us that she suffers from acne. After all, she could hide behind her makeup and photoshop without ever revealing that she has skin problems.

The one thing that stands out when it comes to Katy Perry endorsing anything is the question of her personal taste.

How are we supposed to trust somebody who actually married Russell Brand? It's hard to take a recommendation on anything after seeing her taste in men.

Justin Bieber – this is actually a pretty smart choice for Proactiv because Bieber is exactly in the demographic that the company wants to focus on. It certainly helps that there is probably no artist who is currently as popular as this young star.

The only problem with Bieber is that he has a shelf life of about 1 1/2 more years before he fades into obscurity. Proactiv better get their money’s worth now because he will be as popular as David Cassidy and James Van Der Beek pretty soon.

Sean Combs – this is just a strange match all around, but the biggest question is why would Puff Daddy want to endorse and acne product?

He arguably has more money than anyone else on this list so he obviously doesn't need the cash.

He has to realize that being a spokesperson for a skin product is going to damage his street cred. But whatever he wants to do is up to him because really, who's going to stand in his way?
