How To Get The Most Out Of University Life

But if you really want to have a great time while you're at University and complete your studies here are some tips to help you do just that.

Pick the Right Courses

There's nothing worse than arriving at University and finding that the course you wanted to study just isn't that interesting.

This happens all the time because there's only so much you can learn from a prospectus. If this happens to you the easiest thing to do is to see your tutors about switching courses.

It is relatively easy if you are moving to a new course within the same department and slightly more challenging if you want to change your course of study altogether.

In the latter case you might have to wait and complete the first year so that you can show that you have applied yourself. Either way you can get all the help you need by talking to the tutors in your department and student services.

Identify Like Minds

Often, as you do your course, you will have to participate in group projects. These give you a good chance to find people who work the same way you do.

This is important because when it comes to bigger projects you want to make sure that the people in your group are as committed to the success of the project as you are and are prepared to be accessible and work hard so that you can all get the right grades.

Work with these people long enough and you will find that you make friends that will last for a lifetime. Speaking of which…

Be Social

Though it can be daunting to attend the social events laid on for you at the start of the term, it is a good chance to meet students from all around the University as well as those that you will be studying with the next three or four years.

This is a great time either to solidify friendships with people you already know or to make brand-new friends.

To get even more from this check out the groups and societies that match your interests, such as photography, newspaper, choir – you name it, there's bound to be a group for it.

It's another way to make friends and feel like you belong. Do this and you'll soon fit right in and have a great time during your time at university.
