Feels Like Home
Some hotels tend to be impersonal. Walk into the room and you could be anywhere in the world. That's not the case with a holiday cottage.
They often blend in well with the local landscape and offer a touch of home when you're away.
Whether you're looking for a cozy winter haven or a place to make a splash in the summer, a cottage can be the perfect location for your next holiday.
Set Your Own Schedule
Package holidays in hotels often mean turning up at set times for meals and being shepherded about on organized tours.
When you stay in self-catering accommodation like a cottage, you can set your own schedule. Want to have breakfast early so you can walk the hills before sunrise?
You can. Prefer to lie in bed late eating breakfast while watching mindless television? You can do that too.
There are no rules or schedules to adhere to when you have your own holiday cottage.
Special Occasions
A holiday cottage is also a great place to celebrate a special occasion, like an engagement party, a birthday or a stag or hen night do.
The great thing about cottages is that you can outsource the mayhem and, though you will have to leave it tidy, you won't have as much clearing up to do as if you'd had the party at home.
Added to that, getting away from it all to a beautiful location can really add something extra to a special occasion.
Retreat from the World
Some holiday cottages are in towns, while others are in remote locations, and it's these that allow you to retreat from the world to enjoy nature and solitude.
We often live busy, stressful lives, so sometimes it's good to get away – and there's no better place than a holiday cottage.
Value for Money
Finally, there's the question of value. A holiday cottage is a nice middle ground between a luxury hotel (which hurts the pocket) and a budget package deal.
Since you're cooking for yourself – or eating out – you're not paying the costs associated with meal service in hotels.
And you get to enjoy beautiful surroundings in a comfortable home while setting out your schedule to match your own needs. It's a great way to have a holiday!
