If you too would like to give it try, the first step is to identify the kind of ceramic tile you want to use.
Why Ceramic?
Understanding why ceramic tiles are a good choice for your conservatory floor will also help you when it is time to pick a tile for the flooring.
Ceramic tiles make most sense because many conservatories also function as the pathways between the home and the garden. These tiles are resilient and easy to clean, which makes them perfect for this location.
Other benefits of using ceramic tiles are that these do not wear easily, they are fairly stain/ scratch resistant and require little maintenance.
Which Ceramic Tile is Best for You?
There are many varieties of ceramic tiles that you can choose from when you decide on these tiles for your conservatory floor.
Glazed Ceramic Tiles
These are far more resilient that natural stone and not as prone to chipping. These tiles are also quite lightweight. If your kitchen leads off from the conservatory then there are likely to be a lot of spillages here.
Glazed ceramic tiles are perfect for such conservatries since they are water resistant.
Since they are easy to maintain, it doesn’t really matter if household members are constantly walking into the conservatory from the garden trekking in mud and dirt. A quick wipe will keep your flooring sparkling clean.
Porcelain Tiles
These are made from clay or other similar materials and give a natural, earthy look.
Quite water resistant and easy to care for, porcelain tiles are a good alternative to natural stone and they give the same elegant appearance. Today, you will find these tiles in a variety of appealing colours too.
Terracotta Tiles
If you are going in for the ethnic look, terracotta is a great option too. These are softer than glazed ceramic or porcelain so they do need some extra care to keep them in good condition.
If you will be installing underfloor heating to make walking barefoot in the conservatory comfortable, then terracotta may be a better option.
These tiles retain heat very effectively which means that the floor remains warmer with less heating.
However, if easy maintenance is your priority either of the other two tile options will do an excellent job of covering your heated flooring as well.
